The Butchers have set up a blockbusting last round of the season against Wests by defeating Corrimal 50 – 0 in first grade, Wests 24 – 18 in Reserve Grade and Corrimal 38 – 0 to put the club second in The Club Championship, with the First Grade fixture likely to decide the winner as well as the Minor Premiership. Reserve Grade should stay in first facing Dapto and take out the minor premiership and Under 19’s were beaten on the siren by Wests last time they took them on at Gibson Park, making this weekends games all worth getting down to see!
Last weekend Reserve Grade kicked off the winning spree with a hard fought win over Wests at Figtree on a cold friday night. Coach Jarrod Costello has put together a damaging side consisting of many experienced first grade level players as well as a nucleus of players who have improved out of sight and are pushing for First Grade positions, Joe Mcdevitt was rewarded for his consistant improvement with a call up to First Grade where he had an excellent game and scored a few tries. The boys were lead in the match against Wests by the ever consistant Matty Syron and Luke Gallagher and Julian Flego
Under 19’s dominated the Cougars 38- 0 with only 11 players at one stage, the boys outcalssed their opponenet and have now locked up a certain semi final position. After a slow start to the season the boys have come home strong heading into the finals and with several players gaining reserve and first grade experience will be a bolter to take out the under 19’s title, well done boys
First Grade put on a try scoring clinic against a dissapointing Corrimal team who never looked like troubling the rock solid Butchers goall ine defence. Sam Clune was unstoppable, scoring and setting up tries while the experienced Nathan Fien, Brent Grose Aaron beath and Jamie Feeney were best for the Butchers.
Congratulations to Jake Seargant Wilson on making his first grade debut on the weekend. Jake was thrown in early after an injury to to Sam coster and played nearly a full game, rewarding himself with a smart second half try. Jake was cheered on by a very proud Wilson/Seargant Wilson cheer squad on the side line.
