What do our players do in the off season, you ask

They punch on with the Paul Gallen that’s what.

On Tuesday our first grade front rower Luke Shiels went to Caringbah to spar with former NSW captain and current Cronulla Sharks lock Paul Gallen. Gallen is preparing for his up coming fight against ex NRL bad boy John Hopoate on February 8th at the Horden pavillian, tickets are available through ticketek and Luke aka Moose is in preparation for his on bought in the near future.

2 years ago Luke was locked in to spar with Gallen in preparation for a fight but unfortunately Paul had to pull out due to an injury sustained at Sharks training

With Gallen readying himself for his bout if February, Luke took the opportunity to reach out and offer to spar him once again. With the initial contact being made it was left to the two trainers to sort out the finer details and it was agreed that Tuesday Luke would travel up and step in the ring for a few rounds.

Gallen was a great bloke. We had a chat about the sharks and pre season before both donning the gloves and getting down to business. Once in the ring there was no loved lost we wanted to smash each other.
He is a good boxer and a lot of people doubt him, I rate him. He has a motor on him and can throw down we both bashed each other. We went 6 rounds, his fitness was a lot better than mine and he got me in the last 2. Shiels said

By all reports Gallen and his trainer Graham Shaw were stoked with the help, praising Luke’s sparring skills and thanked him for driving up.

Luke’s next fight will be mid April at the WIN Entertainment center so keep an eye out for tickets once they go on sale.
