Beautiful little Ruby McLean, daughter of Mitch and Haley, was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 2 at 8 months of age. SMA is a degenerative genetic condition which affects the nerves that control muscular movement. It is difficult to predict Ruby’s future but it is unlikely Ruby will walk, being wheelchair bound and needing assistance with day to day tasks. Care of children with SMA is extensive and equipment is needed to achieve the best quality of life. Unfortunately the equipment can be extremely costly.
Your kind donation will be used to help provide Ruby items such as independent mobility/wheelchair, bathing equipment, bedding, feeding chair and car seat. Having access to this type of equipment will give Ruby the opportunity to experience things that many of us take for granted.
For those of you that have been lucky enough to meet Ruby, you will know she is one of a kind, bright, bubbly and a little ray of sunshine. All donations are appreciated, big or small and will go a long way to helping Ruby and her family.
SMA affects 1 in 10,000 babies and there is no cure.
